About Me

Hello! I am a freelance artist and graphic designer. I grew up in Utah dreaming of one day becoming a designer: artist, fashion, and/or film, all I knew was I needed to express myself through art. Making and creating has always helped me feel in touch with my Navajo heritage, like my father and his art. I got a scholarship out of high school to Western Wyoming Community College. I had all my hopes and dreams for myself built so high it felt like an unbelievable hurdle little Nikole could never clear. I dropped out, moved to Colorado, and for 2 years I worked boring jobs just getting by.

And then in 2018, suddenly everything I knew was gone and I had to relearn how to live and function using a wheelchair. Since 2018 I have faced so many challenges and learned so many things be a disabled woman, and I am so proud of myself that I kept pushing and pushing. Even though it felt insurmountably impossible. During the 2021 pandemic I started a hobby: graphic design and design production. This is when I found a space in my soul where I can just be myself. Art is what speaks to me. I do art because I love it more than anything. My goal with my art to always make a space for myself as a disabled artist and to speak for marginalized people, groups, and communities through my art. I’m now pursuing a BA in Graphic Design at the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design in Denver, CO with a graduation date in 2027. I hope that just by reading this, you might also feel the little bit positivity and inspiration I feel everyday in my art. Thank you.
